Lasiodora parahybana
Lasiodora parahybana
Lasiodora parahybana, also known as the Brazilian giant tarantula, can grow up to 10 cm. It is one of the largest tarantulas in terrariums.
Their basic color is black-brown.
Her carapace is surrounded by a narrow beige border and the joints of the extremities are slightly contrasting in beige.
There are long red hairs on the opisthosoma (abdomen).
The Lasiodora parahybana spiderlings grow slowly.
This tarantula is a defensive tarantula that not only uses its stinging hairs for defense, but can also bite strongly.
The Lasiodora parahybana is a ground-dwelling tarantula that inhabits dry forests and steppes in the Paraiba region. It is a relatively dry area with temperatures between 25 and 30 °C. The humidity in the terrarium should be 60 - 70%.
The minimum dimensions for the terrarium should be 40 x 30 x 30 cm, with a substrate height of 5 - 10 cm. We recommend a maintenance temperature of 25 °C with a slight reduction at night. A cork tube as a hiding place and a water bowl should not be missing.
