ArachnoMantis
Heterometrus laoticus
Heterometrus laoticus
Heterometrus laoticus or “Black Laos Scorpion” is one of the scorpions that you simply have to love. They hardly ever bite, preferring to use their powerful pincers for defense. If one does sting, it's no worse than a bee sting. In addition, they grow up to 15 cm tall!
They are kept in a terrarium with the minimum dimensions of 30x30x30cm (better 40x30x30cm) for an adult animal. Forest humus mixed with some clayey sand. Hiding places such as roots or cork tubes, 25-30°C and a humidity of 60-80% ensure that your scorpion feels comfortable.
A plus point is that the species can be kept very well in groups. You should make sure to only keep one male with several females, otherwise fights can occur. Sufficient food for a group and a correspondingly large terrarium are clear requirements.
